Polse, Polse, and even more Polse!

Posted on the December 7th, 2009 under My Norway Journal by digiladee

hotdogWell, I do have to say that the amount of polse I have eaten in the last 6 months is astounding. I must have pushed down at least 100. But that is a very small feat here in Norway. My husband tells me that each different polse has its own special taste .. etc. However, it all taste like hotdogs to me.. some with skin some without.

I have seen polse go where no polse has gone before, on pizzas, in spaghetti, in casseroles….lol

The good thing is that its so very cheap!

This sausage culture amuses me to no end. Referring to any kind of sliced sausage as ’salami’ is a great way to wind up a Norwegian.

Now you’ve made me hungry for en hotdogs.

I agree! I was totally lost when I served up my first spekemat. Just looked like a tray of salami to me.. but of all varieties. I had no idea!

So true! I don’t even like hotdogs that much (or pølse) but I have managed to eat more of them since I moved here that in my entire life (almost 2 years). Btw, I’m also from TX. :)

I completely understand, Brandy. I don’t care for them much either.. but there is noway around it. I am surprised that the Corndog never made it here. I do miss those State Fair Corndogs!
