Well, I do have to say that the amount of polse I have eaten in the last 6 months is astounding. I must have pushed down at least 100. But that is a very small feat here in Norway. My husband tells me that each different polse has its own special taste .. etc. However, it all taste like hotdogs to me.. some with skin some without.
I have seen polse go where no polse has gone before, on pizzas, in spaghetti, in casseroles….lol
The good thing is that its so very cheap!
Ok I have completely neglected this blog during the chaos of moving and getting settled in. Well now I find myself comfortable in the Bislett area of Oslo, Norway.
Everything is going well as far as the living situation goes. The Norsk people are very and friendly. I feel extremely accepted. However this type of move does make one starved for social interaction. As a new stay at home mom (previous working mom) I do find I miss my old social circles. I am extremely extroverted, however with the language problem its a huge hurtle to overcome. I look forward to starting my Norsk language classes to meet new people outside of my husband’s social network.
Finally we get an offer for the house! Even better is that the buyer wants to close earlier than our projected move date! Norway here we come right? Not quite…. after several days of waiting the buyers looks like may be pulling out after we accepted the offer. Ugh!
There is still a small pinch of hope that everything will work out but as of now we are probably putting the house back on the market after tomorrow.
Fingers Crossed!!
We are anticipating being moved to Kongsberg, Norway (Norge) by May ‘09. We then hope to be in Oslo by the end of summer 2009. Its a big move, and all this has me trying to mentally prepare for the inevidable culture shock. The language is really the biggest barrier that I feel. I have plenty of books, cd’s on the Norsk language and I even have my own teacher (my husband, Tor-Inge), However I still am worried that my 15 month old daughter will be fluent in it before I can even speak it.
I don’t think cramming the language will work for me. I think for me it is going to take complete submersion in the Norsk language. We shall see.
